Why a Baby Naming Ceremony?

Baby
Naming Ceremony
is used by many parents to welcome their baby into the family, and symbolically, into the community.

The Naming Ceremony mirrors the Christening Ceremony which welcomes the child into a religious community. Since the Name Giving Ceremony is a private celebration, it doesn't take the place of the Christening. Parents might choose to have a Naming Ceremony and a Christening Ceremony. Or they may allow the child to make that choice when old enough to do so.

Involved in the Naming Ceremony may be just the immediate family or a gathering of all relatives and friends who will become part of the baby's life.

God Parents, Guardians, Guideparents, Mentors or Sponsors are chosen by the parents from their family members or special friends. The number chosen may be as few or as many as the parents want to take a close interest in the baby's welfare.

Other people who can be involved directly in the ceremony are grandparents who will play a large role in the baby's life. Guests can also be involved in the Naming Ceremony through communal prayers or blessings.

Symbolic rituals might also be included to give added meaning and life to the ceremony. Vlady can give you many samples of rituals which you can incorporate into your ceremony.

Vlady's service to those planning a Baby Naming Ceremony includes extensive resources to allow you to create a personal and unique Naming Ceremony whether this is an  intimate personal gathering of just the immediate family, or you have booked a public park to accommodate family members who have flown from all over the world to greet your first-born.

Before you begin, though, she has many sample of ceremonies she has already performed for other babies, to show you how a ceremony can look.

On the Naming Day  all your guests will receive a copy of the Naming Ceremony to help them experience the event in an involved personal way.

To commemorate the event, your baby and all those persons you want to honour such as Godparents, Grandparents etc., will be given a personalised Certificate. So that they don't feel left out, baby's older brother or sister can also receive a personalised Certificate.

Marriage Celebrants often view the Naming Ceremony as an "also" ceremony. Vlady views the Naming Ceremony as a little more special and complex than the wedding. After all, almost everyone knows what to expect at a wedding.

Naming Ceremony, on the other hand, is the beginning of building memories and friendships for your child. Your son or daughter is too young to appreciate it, but as parents, you know how important people can be for the development of a happy life of a child. In a Naming Ceremony your child is, symbolically, given to the care of all your family and friends and this early involvement will encourage a continuing interest on their part as your child grows.

Fees charged by Vlady are all inclusive. No matter how creative or different your ceremony, no matter how many people you want to involve, how many certificates you want to provide, or how many programs you want printed for the event, there will only be the one fee.
