Wedding Ceremony involving Children from a first marriage or the current relationship

Many couples, when marrying, may be bringing into the union their own child, or perhaps children from a former relationship.

To include the children in the wedding ceremony is a way of letting them know that they are an important part of the marriage.

There are a number of ways to include children in a wedding ceremony. Both the bride and groom may make a vow to the children to indicate their care and concern for their welfare.

They may use different unity rituals to symbolise the creation of a family through the blending of sands, lighting candles, presenting the children with a a token such as a piece of jewellery.

When the children are old enough, they may choose to make their own commitment to their step parent as part of the wedding ceremony.

A naming ceremony can also be a part of the wedding ceremony.
