Wedding Ceremony Blessing of the Hands

For a marriage ceremony to be legal, there are few simple requirements. After that, a couple may create a wedding ceremony that is both personal and unique.

A contemporary wedding ceremony segment, the blessing of the hands can be included towards the end of the ceremony. It symbolises for the married couple, what each of them means to the other.

Here is a sample taken out of my Wedding Ceremony Resource Book.

Blessing of the Hands
(Hands on top of each other, palms touching)
Celebrant:
These are the hands of your best friend, young and strong and vibrant with love that are holding yours on your wedding day, as you promise to love each other all the days of your life.

These are the hands that will passionately love you through the years, for a lifetime of happiness.

These are the hands that will countless times wipe the tears from your eyes, tears of sorrow and tears of joy.

These are the hands that will comfort you in illness, and hold you when fear or grief wreck your mind.

These are the hands that will tenderly lift your chin and brush your cheek, letting your see eyes that are filled completely with an overwhelming love and desire for you.

May these hands that we see today be blessed.

May they always be held by one another.

May they have the strength to hold on during the storms of stress and the dark of disillusionment.

May they remain tender and gentle as they nurture each other in their wondrous love.

May these hands continue building a relationship founded on love, rich in caring, and devoted in reaching perfection.

May (Bride) and (Groom) see their four hands as healer, protector, shelter and guide.
