Wedding Ceremony Vows

For a marriage ceremony to be legal, there are few simple requirements. After that, a couple may create a wedding ceremony that is both personal and unique.

Although the couple are encouraged to create wedding vows that are meaningful to them, legally wedding vows must include certain words. Here is a sample which includes both the couple's chosen words, as well as those required by the Marriage Act to make the vow legally binding.

Wedding Vows
Groom:
I, (Groom), call upon the persons here present, to witness, that I take you, (Bride), to be my lawful, wedded wife, the mother of our children, and the companion of my home.

I commit my life to you, encompassing as it does, all sorrows and joys, all hardships and triumphs, all experiences of life; a commitment made in love, kept in faith, lived in hope, and eternally made new.

Bride:
I, (Bride), call upon all here present, to witness that I take you, (Groom), to be my lawful, wedded husband, the father of our children, the companion of my home.

I commit my life to you, encompassing as it does, all sorrows and joys, all hardships and triumphs, all experiences of life; a commitment made in love, kept in faith, lived in hope, and eternally made new.
