Planning an Evening Wedding

Ah, the romance of an evening wedding. Sometimes it will happen in the couple's own home, on a patio, or garden  lit wholly by candles or spotlights.

When planning an evening wedding make sure

• At a home wedding keep the candles out of the way of traffic, both the wedding party and the guests.

• To light an outdoor area use sheltered lights so there's no danger of fire.

• If you're having the wedding at a reception centre in a garden setting try to see it at the time your wedding will take place to see how it looks

• Check with the proprietors to see if more lighting is available on the day should you ask for it.

• Have a wedding rehearsal to make sure that the light is sufficient for the celebrant to conduct the ceremony, wedding participants to read, and the couple and the witnesses to sign the wedding register.

• In an outdoor wedding be prepared, using insect repellent in hot weather, and heaters in cold weather.

• Dress according to the weather prediction.
