Planning a Wedding involving Children as Flower Girls

 Wedding  Ceremony Checklist

Before selecting young wedding attendants know what you want them to do, if the child will be happy doing it, and what backup plan you'll use if your young wedding attendant suddenly gets stage-fright on your wedding day.

If you've faced that, here are things that will help your flower girl on your wedding day:

  • At the rehearsal treat her as part of the wedding party.

  • Dress her in the clothes and the shoes she'll be wearing on the wedding day. Any problems she'll complain off now can be fixed.

  • During the wedding rehearsal give the her a basket with something to toss out for practice - bits of paper instead of confetti

  • Both during the rehearsal and on the wedding day if it's out of doors, give her something to follow by placing a coloured pebble or a shell every half a meter or so and ask her to toss the petals on these markers.

  • Have a seat for the flower girl just before the wedding party reaches the ceremony site. Even better, have the parents sitting there ready to claim her.

  • If the child is too young or suddenly develops nerves, have her lead by one of the bridesmaids.

  • Have the child dressed quietly away from the bridal party even if the child is the bride's or daughter of a bridesmaid.

  • Make the wedding day starts off as normal as possible  by having the child have her meal, or snack and comfort stop before being brought to the wedding site.

  • Appoint someone who will look after the child before, during and after the wedding ceremony

Keep your flower girl happy throughout the wedding day with the wedding book that has all the wedding planning hints you'll ever need.
