Wedding at a Winery

Wedding Checklist

Weddings at wineries can mean spectacular views and personal and professional service. Number of wedding guests these venues can accommodate can be anything from half a dozen to three hundred.

Things you might check out when considering a winery for your wedding ceremony.

  • Some wineries require a minimum number of guests which may not suit a small wedding.

  • There may be both outdoor garden setting for the wedding ceremony and indoor  wedding reception room.

  • Service provided may include the wines manufactured at the winery.

  • The wedding ceremony might include sharing wine at the end of the wedding ceremony.

  • Consider buying special crystal glasses with the bride and groom's names and the date of the wedding as a memento of your wedding day.

  • Other containers used for the ceremony include special gold or silver cups used in the Celtic ceremony of the loving cup.

  • The most romantic of all drinking vessels is the two handed vessel known as the loving cup, which is often used when the wedding ceremony includes the handfasting ceremony.

  • The drinking of the wine at the end of the wedding ceremony is a symbolic sharing as the bride and groom begin their new life as husband and wife.

  • Part of the sharing the wine ceremony can be the involvement of every one present. After the groom takes a sip, he passes it to the bride, who then passes it to the celebrant.

  • The celebrant then can pass the cup to the guests who each in turn will take a sip. Alternatively, each guest will have a glass of wine, and as soon as the groom and bride have taken a sip, the guest will raise their glass for a toast.
